    Picture is right, description is wrong. These are mtb two-hole cleats, not Ersatzcleats which are for the same pedals but for road shoes with 3-holes. These are a bit different from Shimano SPD cleats in having the gold colored bar for the screws rather than the thinner oval bar that Shimano cleats have. This provides a more stable interface with the Xpedo pedals which have small raised surfaces that the bar rests against. Shimano cleats work, but won't provide the same degree of stability against the pedal.

    These cleats, when used in conjunction with the Xpedo pedals are really a well functioning unit. After a brief adjustment period I was able to clip in and out a lot easier than the SPD's that I have always used. I am starting to use my foot plant on the inside of a turn again where I would have hesitated in my shimano pedals

    I use these cleats on my Specialized road shoes which are pre-drilled for SPD plus I added the Shimano pontoons on them which
    makes walking much safer. If you don't use pontoons the Wellgo 98A cleat works as well and is less expensive. I use these cleats
    on my Xpedo pedals but they are also compatible with Shimano and Wellgo pedals that I have tried. More similar to the Shimano
    SH-56 cleat than the SH-51/SH-71 cleats which is a good thing but not identical to any other cleat either. I wouldn't waste my money
    on the similar Shimano SH-71 cleat as this cleat provides multi-angle release unless you know you want that limited release angle
    type cleat.
