OK, I'm 65, 50lbs overweight, started biking again a couple years ago. Mostly bike path but some mountain biking. Upgraded my Schwinn to a Diamondback Overdrive with flat bars earlier this year. The stock vinyl covered 2x4 was torture, I tried the cruiser type comfort seat from the Schwinn, it was not much better, to wide and caused chafing. Butt pain limited rides to 1.5 hours. This new seat split the width difference between the two old seats and the price was right so I gave it a try. The padding is nicer than expected, firm, deep, and in the right spots. It is a good looking seat too. Once I got the back and forth adjusted I'm good for four hours or more, and that's when I'm worn out, my butt's still good to go. It's not an easy chair, but I adopted to this in a couple days, the other seats I rode for months and they never got better. Everyone is different, this works for me, and shame on Diamondback for not making this the stock seat on their less than hardcore bikes.
