TIME pedals might not have as many riders in the pro peloton clicking in as they do on Look, Shimano, or Speedplay pedals but it doesn’t stop it from having a cult-like reverence among serious cyclists. We’re not sure if it’s sponsorship obligations or what preventing us from seeing more pros on TIMEs, but the fact that the big German Jan Ullrich and Il Pirata Marco Pantani rode TIME pedals is more than enough reason to have us on board. With the Xpro 10, Time gives us the evolution of its road pedal with all of the refinements to the Xpro range in its most wallet-friendly version. The TIME Xpro 10’s are an update to the Xpresso line, renowned for its adjustability and lightweight construction. The Xpro 10 features the same all-new carbon body as the 12 and 15, bumping up the already impressive platform surface area from 700mm2 to an even more stable 725mm2. On the underside of the pedal, a new lower plate acts as a fairing which helps to improve aerodynamics and protects the adjustable tension Carbon Flexion blade spring. Further refinements to the Iclic system allow for a quicker and more positive cleat engagement, so getting in at the start of a crit or rolling away from a red light should be easier and faster. The Xpro 10 differs from the 12 and 15 by opting for a steel spindle that adds grams but drops dollars. The overall weight of each pedal is still a very respectable 113 grams and if you’re doing the math at home, that’s 19 grams more per pedal than the 12. Like previous Time pedals, the Q-Factor adjustment and Bioposition concept are responsible for its legion of fans. The angular tension features 3 positions ranging from joint-friendly movement to a more secure, sprinter-favored bear trap hold. The release angle is also adjustable depending on which cleat you install on which shoe. Low stack-height is the hallmark of TIME’s Bioposition concept and its design reduces the distance from your shoe’s sole to the pedal axle to an impressive 13. 5mm, allowing…
